COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

While many people from the community have come and gone over the past 30 plus years, the committee remains dedicated to the future of this exchange program. Hundreds of families have been involved in the exchange program, either by hosting a family in their home in the Litchfield area or by being a delegate to the Hartford, Alabama area.

Committee members give a lot of their time and talents to the program. Without the support of past and present members, and of the community, the program would not continue to exist. Fundraisers in the summer keep the committee members busy. Flipping cheeseburgers for softball tournaments; serving brats at Center Bank; and malts and ice cream cones in the American Dairy Association Malt Booth at the Meeker County Fair are all events that benefit the Peanut Butter and Milk Committee.

"Put the Squeeze on a Cow and Shell a Peanut Today", was the first button slogan. It was 1980, and Jim Turck had the winning design. This started the button promotion. Buttons were sold prior to the February celebration. While this promotion ended in 2007, the committee is always looking for new ways to promote our Peanut Butter and Milk Festival.

The Litchfield PBM Committee and the Hartford PBM Committee are beginning to prepare for our 40th Anniversary.  We'll keep you posted right here on our plans!
